Author Guidelines for Submission to the International Journal for Online Graduate Education (IJOGE)

Thank you for considering submitting your work to IJOGE. To ensure the quality and integrity of our publication, we have established the following guidelines for authors:

  1. Manuscript Preparation:
  • IJOGE accepts the following types of manuscripts:
    • Research, literature reviews, and theoretical/practice articles that are approximately 3000 to 6000 words. These types of manuscripts will be subject to the peer review process
    • Editorials, book reviews, and book chapter reviews of 1500 to 2000 words will receive an editorial review.
  • IJOGE accepts manuscripts on a broad range of topics related to online graduate education. Manuscripts may focus on any stakeholder groups (faculty, staff, students, administrators) and be aligned with any field within higher education, including instruction, curriculum, technology, professional development, institutional culture, and graduation.  If you are in doubt about whether your topic aligns, please contact the editorial team.
  • All submissions must be original and should not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Manuscripts must be prepared per the guidelines of the American Psychological Association (APA) style (7th edition).
  • The manuscript should be typed in Times New Roman font, size 12, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins on all sides.
  • Include a title page with the title of the submission. Also, list the primary author (contact person) and any secondary authors you would like listed for your submission.
  • The manuscript's main text should include an abstract (maximum 250 words) summarizing the study's purpose, methods, results, and conclusions.
  • Keywords (3-5) should be provided below the abstract to aid in indexing and searching.
  • Figures and tables should be embedded in the text at the appropriate place, with captions provided below each. Hyperlinks should be active and current.
  • All references cited in the text must be included in the reference list and vice versa.
  1. Submission Process:
  • Manuscripts should be submitted electronically via the online submission system on the journal's website.
  • The primary author must register an account on the submission system to track the progress of their submission and communicate with the editorial team.
  1. Ethical Considerations:
  • Author(s) must adhere to ethical guidelines for research involving human subjects or animals, per institutional and international standards.
  • Any potential conflicts of interest should be disclosed upon submission.
  • Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable. Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their work and citing sources appropriately.
  • Author(s) are encouraged to use Grammarly AI or similar platforms to edit work, but all submissions are expected to be the author’s original writing.
  1. Copyright and Permissions:
  • Upon acceptance, authors will be required to transfer the copyright of the manuscript to IJOGE
  • Author(s) are responsible for obtaining permission for any copyrighted material used in their manuscript (e.g., figures, tables, lengthy quotations).
  1. Peer Review Process
  • All submissions will undergo a double-anonymized peer-review process. Therefore, authors should ensure their manuscript is anonymized to facilitate impartial review.
  • Author(s) may be asked to revise their manuscript based on feedback from reviewers and editors.
  • Author(s) can expect to go through two or more reviews.
  1. Post-Acceptance:
  • Upon acceptance, authors must provide a final, formatted, edited version of their manuscript according to the journal's guidelines.
  1. Publication Fees:
  • The International Journal for Online Graduate Education does not charge submission or publication fees.
