As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • All submissions must meet the following requirements.

    • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
    • The author certifies that all work is original and that if the work fails plagiarism detection, the article may be withdrawn and the author may be banned from further submission. If the article is based upon previous work (e.g. a dissertation), be sure to attribute this appropriately.
    • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
    • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
    • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
    • Provide DOI numbers for all references, when available.
    • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

Who Can Submit?

Anyone may submit an original article to be considered for publication in International Journal of Online Graduate Education (IJOGE) provided he or she owns the copyright to the work being submitted or is authorized by the copyright owner or owners to submit the article. Authors are the initial owners of the copyrights to their works (an exception in the non-academic world to this might exist if the authors have, as a condition of employment, agreed to transfer copyright to their employer).

General Submission Rules

Submitted articles cannot have been previously published, nor be forthcoming in any journal or book (print or electronic). In addition, by submitting material to IJOGE, the author is stipulating that the material is not currently under review at another journal (electronic or print) and that he or she will not submit the material to another journal (electronic or print) until the completion of the editorial decision process at IJOGE. If you have concerns about the submission terms, please contact the editor. Do not submit full-length dissertations or theses - be sure submissions are in journal article format and length.

Only papers listed as "Articles" are considered peer-reviewed articles.

Plagiarism

All papers are submitted to a plagiarism detection software tool. Instances of plagiarism are taken very seriously by the IJOGE. Authors that submit plagiarized work may be banned from submitting to the journal in the future.

Formatting Requirements

The IJOGE has limited general rules about the formatting of articles upon initial submission. Authors should reference the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) 6th edition to guide their use of: headings and seriation, figures and tables, as well as in-text and reference list citations. See Final Manuscript Preparation Guidelines for details. Although the Editors can provide limited technical support, it is ultimately the responsibility of the author to produce an electronic version of the article as a high-quality PDF (Adobe's Portable Document Format) file, or a Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, or RTF file that can be converted to a PDF file.

It is understood that the current state of technology of Adobe's Portable Document Format (PDF) is such that there are no, and can be no, guarantees that documents in PDF will work perfectly with all possible hardware and software configurations that readers may have.
